" My name is Kimberly Bolch, and I am a college exchange student from the United States. I am doing research with Banco Palmas's program of integrated micro-credit for women, Incubadora Feminina. Staying in PalmaTur's community inn has been a wonderful and valuable experience for me. Not only does its close proximity to the bank greatly facilitate the research process (so much better than my previous hour and half commute by public transportation from the north-west edge of the city!), but it offers an opportunity to do more than just research here in Conjunto Palmeira. Staying in Palmatur's inn really offered me an opportunity to be included in the community as well, which for me, is an essential context for the theories of development the bank practices. The women have created a space in which the incredible mix of people who come to Banco Palmas from all over the world can connect with the community and people of Conjunto Palmeira, in which they can exchange stories, food, laughter, and ideas after the bank closes for the day. I would highly, highly recommend staying in the pousada- I only wish I could have stayed longer!"
